Who Needs To Complete IOSH Working Safely® Training?

IOSH Working Safely® training is designed to teach the basics of workplace health and safety to:

    The IOSH Working Safely® Course includes the following modules:

    Module 1 - Introducing Working Safely®: the Working Safely® IOSH Course starts by providing an overview of why safety is important, employees’ personal responsibilities for health and safety at work, and the financial costs of workplace accidents

    Module 2 - Defining hazards and risks: the course then covers the key differences between hazards and risks. Candidates will learn about the hierarchy of control and systematic risk assessments

    Module 3 - Identifying common hazards: next, IOSH Working Safely® training spends time focusing on the specific dangers associated with fire, electricity, manual handling, and slips and trips

    Module 4 - Improving safety performance: candidates will also learn about safety systems, emergency procedures, and incident reporting, as well as how their individual behaviour contributes to their organisation’s overall safety culture

    Module 5 - Protecting our environment: the final module of the IOSH Working Safely® Course explores how different work activities affect the environment, including the important role of waste management and pollution control

  • Assessment & Certification

    The IOSH Working Safely® assessment comprises a multiple-choice test, and a practical, hazard-spotting exercise.

    During the second part of the assessment, candidates are required to identify hazards and suggest appropriate controls.

The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) is the chartered body for health and safety professionals. The IOSH is based in the UK and sets the global standards for workplace health and safety.

There are no formal prerequisites for IOSH Working Safely® training. However, candidates do need to have a basic working understanding of both written and spoken English.

Online IOSH Working Safely® training can be completed in just one day, with the course requiring around 8 hours of self-paced remote learning in total.

The Four Storey IOSH Working Safely® Course costs £150 per delegate. The price includes access to an IOSH-approved e-learning course, plus digital and paper certification. 

IOSH Working Safely® training doesn’t formally expire, but it’s recommended that workers take a refresher course every three years to keep their knowledge up to date. 

To complete the IOSH Working Safely® Course online, all candidates need is access to a device – such as a laptop, desktop computer or tablet – and a decent internet connection.
