My manual handling training course teaches workers how to handle loads correctly and safely, with minimal risk of injury. It’s a general requirement for employees to complete this training under the Manual Handling Operations Regulations, as incorrect handling is one of the most common causes of workplace injuries.

During my online course, you’ll find out more about the regulations governing manual handling, and learn safe handling techniques. By the end of the online manual handling training, you’ll be equipped with the knowledge to develop safe load-handling habits at work, and better understand the risks associated with incorrect handling.

Who Needs an Manual Handling certificate?

Anyone who is required to lift, carry, push, pull, or move loads as part of their job is required to complete manual handling training, online or in person. The Four Storey manual handling elearning course is designed for employees, contractors, and self-employed individuals.

  • Modules

    My manual handling elearning course covers seven modules: 

    • Module 1 - What is manual handling?: the course begins with a definition of manual handling, before looking at the risks associated with incorrect handling

    • Module 2 - Manual handling regulations: delegates then learn more about their responsibilities under the Manual Handling Operations Regulations

    • Module 3 - Safe handling: next, the course covers how to safely assess a load, and lift a heavy load safely

    • Module 4 - Learning safe handling habits: my manual handling training also looks at safe posture, and how to reduce the risk of injury during repetitive tasks

    • Module 5 - Practical manual handling solutions: the fifth course module focuses on risk reduction for especially heavy or awkwardly-shaped loads 

    • Module 6 - Use of mechanical aids: the manual handling online training course then spends time looking at how to safely use equipment such as, trolleys and hoists, to safely move loads

    • Module 7 - Final assessment: the course ends with an assessment to test what delegates have learnt, with a 75% pass mark required

  • Assessment & Certification

    There’s a short test at the end of the manual handling course, and you’ll need to achieve at least 75% to pass. You’ll then receive your digital manual handling training certificate the very same day.

Manual handling training is designed to teach staff, contractors, temps, and self-employed individuals how to manually handle loads safely, without injuring themselves. During a manual handling course, workers learn how to lift, push, pull, and carry loads safely.

There are no formal prerequisites for undertaking the manual handling elearning course. 

The video content you’ll watch during the online manual handling course lasts for 75 minutes in total. You’ll spend additional time answering the questions at the end of each module.

The Four Storey manual handling courses costs £35 per person, which includes access to an hour and 15 minutes’ of elearning content, plus your manual handling training certificate, which you’ll receive on the day.

Manual handling training doesn’t formally expire, but it is recommended that you keep your knowledge up to date with a refresher course every three years.

To complete my manual handling elearning course, you simply need access to a computer, laptop, or tablet, and a decent internet connection.
