Under The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, employers must ensure that workers who may come into contact with asbestos as part of their work are provided with adequate asbestos awareness training.

My asbestos awareness elearning course is delivered online, and is designed to equip delegates with the knowledge to stay safe in work environments where the dangerous building material asbestos may be present. I’m proud that the course has been rated ‘outstanding’ and approved by leading industry bodies, including CPD, IATP, IIRSM, and Gatehouse Awards.

After completing asbestos awareness training, delegates will understand the risks of working with asbestos, know how to recognise materials that may contain asbestos fibres, and minimise exposure and associated risks.

Who Needs To Complete Asbestos Awareness Training?

It is a legal requirement for anyone who may come into contact with asbestos fibres during their work to complete asbestos awareness training online or in person. This includes people working in construction, maintenance, and tradespeople including plumbers, electricians, and carpenters.

  • Modules

The asbestos awareness online training course covers the following modules:

Module 1 - Properties and risks of asbestos exposure: the training begins by examining the risks posed by asbestos fibres, including symptoms to be aware of.

Module 2 - Different types of asbestos: delegates then learn about the various types of asbestos, their historic uses, and where they are likely to be present.

Module 3 - Avoiding the risks from asbestos: next, asbestos awareness training looks at how to avoid the dangerous risks posed by asbestos, including safe working practices and what to do if you’re concerned about exposure.

Module 4 - An outline of asbestos legislation: the elearning course also covers the safety legislation surrounding asbestos.

  • Assessment & Certification

Once you’ve watched all of the elearning content, the asbestos awareness course ends with a multiple-choice test. After you’ve passed, you’ll receive a digital certificate the very same day, and I’ll get a paper certificate over to you too.

Completing asbestos awareness training is a legal requirement for anyone who may be exposed to asbestos as part of their work. Asbestos awareness is important because many older buildings still contain traces of hidden asbestos. Exposure to invisible asbestos fibres can lead to diseases, such as mesothelioma and lung cancer, putting workers’ lives at risk. Knowing how to identify potential traces of asbestos and how to stay safe is therefore essential in many industries.

No – there are no formal prerequisites for asbestos awareness training. The course is designed to increase knowledge and awareness, so no prior qualifications or experience are required.

My online asbestos awareness course includes 95 minutes of elearning content, followed by a multiple-choice assessment. You should be able to complete the training in around two hours altogether.

The Four Storey asbestos awareness elearning course costs £35 per person. This price includes access to 95 minutes of course content, as well as both digital and paper certification.

Although asbestos awareness training doesn’t legally expire, it’s recommended that refresher courses are taken every 12 months to keep knowledge up to date.
