Asbestos is probably the most dangerous building material ever used. Every year thousands of people fall ill and die because of exposure to asbestos and it was widely used by the construction industry right up until the year 2000.

The Control of Asbestos Regulations (CAR) apply to employers, employees, self-employed persons and duty holders and cover all work with asbestos containing materials. Regulation 10 of CAR states
that every employer must ensure that adequate information, instruction and training is given to employees who are liable to be exposed to asbestos. This includes maintenance workers and others who may come into contact with or disturb asbestos.

As well as informing candidates about the risks of working with asbestos, the course will deliver content to help them recognise asbestos containing materials, make them aware of where it was used, include steps they can take to minimise the risks and discuss the legislation that applies to
working with asbestos.

Each module is rounded off with several multiple-choice questions, candidates are required to get 100% on these tests to pass the course. They have the opportunity to review all the answers at the end of each module before final submission and will be given 3 attempts to achieve the required
result.

The Energy & Utility Skills Register (EUSR) is the training and skills registration body for the UK utilities sector. The EUSR works closely with the water industry to develop training programmes and assessments, including the National Water Hygiene scheme.

The EUSR National Water Hygiene scheme is also known as the Blue Card, and has been developed in conjunction with UK water companies. Anyone working on a clean water site in the UK is required to hold one of these cards to show that they have undergone this mandatory training to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to protect water safety and public health.

Before taking an EUSR National Water Hygiene Course, delegates must complete the standardised health screening questionnaire that’s required for anyone working on ‘Restricted Operations’. If answers signal that someone is carrying a water-borne disease, they will be referred to their doctor or occupational health department for checks, and the trainer will decide whether they can continue with the course.

Both health screening and the National Water Hygiene test must be passed before a candidate is issued with their Blue Card.

My EUSR National Water Hygiene training course costs £120 (+VAT), which includes the cost of the course, as well as your card.

I offer three-hour courses that take place every weeknight from 6pm until 9pm, so you can fit in National Water Hygiene training after work and around other commitments.

TheNational Water Hygiene scheme is designed for both individuals and organisations. Anyone working in the clean water industry is required to undergo EUSR Water Hygiene training, and organisations are responsible for ensuring the staff and contractors they hire have successfully completed a course.

An EUSR Blue Water Hygiene Card remains valid for three years from the date it is awarded. National Water Hygiene training therefore requires renewal before the three-year mark approaches in order to stay compliant.

To renew your EUSR Water Hygiene Card, you’ll need to retake the National Water Hygiene course; candidates must retake training every three years to remain compliant. To replace a lost card, you’ll need to request a new one from the EUSR, and pay a replacement fee.

My online EUSR Water Hygiene Course is delivered via Microsoft Teams, so you’ll need access to a laptop, desktop computer, tablet, or mobile phone.
