Who Needs To Complete A SHEA Water Course?

EUSR SHEA Water training is a mandatory requirement for anyone who needs to access an operational site in the water industry, such as water treatment plants, sewage works, and pumping stations.

Workers at all levels need a valid SHEA Water Card to maintain site access, including contractors, operatives, and supervisors.

  • Modules

The EUSR SHEA Water Course includes the same course content as SHEA Core and two extra water-specific modules.

Module 1 - Understanding our workplace responsibilities: SHEA Water training begins by looking at the safety legislation that governs operational work environments. It also covers the personal responsibility delegates have to keep themselves, their colleagues, and the wider public safe.

Module 2 - Understanding the effects of our work on the environment: next, delegates learn more about sustainability, and the impact of their work on the environment.

Module 3 - Identifying and controlling risks: candidates learn how to spot and mitigate common workplace risks to help keep workplaces safe and compliant.

Module 4 - Common hazards in the workplace: SHEA Water delegates will also be taught how to identify and control physical hazards in their workplace.

Module 5 - Occupational health hazards: the course then covers how to identify common occupational health hazards and mitigate the risk they pose.

Module 6 - Responding to emergencies: candidates will also learn about the procedures and actions to follow in case of an emergency at work.

Module 20 - Clean and waste water operations: unique to SHEA Water training, this module focuses on safe working practices and hazard identification in the water industry, and spends time looking at the risks associated with wastewater.

Module 21 - Highway working and excavations: the final course module covers the procedures that must be followed when working on public highways and excavations.

  • Assessment & Certification

There’s a brief assessment at the end of each SHEA Water training module. Once you’ve passed each one, your virtual EUSR SHEA Water Card will be available within three business days via the Vircarda app. If you need a physical card, this can be with you within five working days.
