Who Needs To Complete An EUSR Telecoms Course?

Anyone who requires access to an operational telecommunications site needs to complete EUSR Telecoms training before gaining site access.

This includes operatives, supervisors, managers and contractors, who work with cabling, streetworks or network infrastructure, for example.

  • Modules

The EUSR SHEA Telecommunications Course includes all material from the SHEA Core qualification, plus one additional, telecoms-specific module.

Module 1 - Understanding our workplace responsibilities:
the course begins by covering the safety legislation that applies to the sector, focusing on delegates’ responsibility to keep their work environment, colleagues, and the wider public safe

Module 2 - Understanding the effects of our work on the environment:
SHEA Telecoms training then aims to enhance delegates’ environmental awareness and overall understanding of sustainability

Module 3 - Identifying and controlling risks:
next, the SHEA Telecoms Course covers how to identify workplace risks, and how to mitigate them to keep the work environment safe and compliant

Module 4 - Common hazards in the workplace:
the fourth module explores common physical hazards in the workplace and the steps that can be taken to control these

Module 5 - Occupational health hazards:
delegates then learn how to identify common occupational health hazards and reduce the risk they pose

Module 6 - Responding to emergencies:
the EUSR Telecoms Course teaches delegates the emergency procedures to follow and actions to take should a workplace emergency occur

Module 17 - Working safely underground, in the highway, and overhead:
this module is unique to the EUSR Telecoms Course and covers the regulations that govern work near public roads, as well as safe practices for working on excavations, underground and overhead cabling, and working with poles. Training covers hazard control measures and emergency response procedures for these specific telecommunications work environments.
