The SHEA Power Course covers the same material as the EUSR SHEA Core Course, alongside two additional power-specific modules. The course aims to develop delegates’ understanding of how power is generated, transmitted and distributed across the network through substations, overhead lines and underground cables. SHEA Power training also includes an introduction to network components and different voltages.

In addition, EUSR Power training provides delegates with awareness of electricity systems, electrical safety rules, the purpose of authorisations, and common electricity hazards.

Who Needs To Complete A SHEA Power Course?

All personnel requiring operational site access in the power sector, whether that’s in power generation, transmission or distribution, are required to carry a SHEA Power Card.

This can only be gained following successful completion of an EUSR Power Course.

    After completing your SHEA Power (SHEA stands for Safety, Health and Environmental Awareness) qualification, you will receive a SHEA Passport card used by operatives, supervisors and managers to gain operational site access across the power sector.

    Fully CSCS-accredited, with the famous hologram, this is a CSCS Card for those who work around sources of live electricity on site.

    Includes all material from the EUSR SHEA Core qualification, plus two additional, power-specific modules.

  • Course Process

    SHEA Power is delivered within seven hours and comprises eight modules, each ending in a brief assessment.

    Once the eight modules are passed, the course is complete.

    A Virtual Card is available within three business days and it can be viewed on the Vircarda app.

    A plastic card is available if needed and this usually arrives within five working days.

EUSR stands for Energy & Utility Skills Register, the registered body in the UK for skills and training in the utilities sector. The body works with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to set industry training standards to ensure safety and compliance across the sector.

SHEA (Safety, Health & Environmental Awareness) training is compulsory for anyone requiring operational site access in the UK utilities sector. There are different types of SHEA training, including:

Following completion of a SHEA course, you receive a SHEA Card that acts as a passport to grant operational site access.

There are no formal requirements to take an EUSR SHEA Power Course. You will be asked to provide government-issued photo ID, and you also need to have good written and spoken English, but no industry experience or qualifications are necessary.

If you choose to take my SHEA Power Course online, it takes seven hours to complete, running from 9am until 4pm. Sessions are available to book twice a week on rotating days, so there’s a session to suit every schedule.

The online SHEA Power Course costs £155 (+VAT) at Four Storey Training. This includes seven hours of tutor-led training, and the cost of your EUSR SHEA Power Card, with no hidden fees.

SHEA Power training is valid for three years from the date of completion.Training needs to be renewed every three years to ensure you maintain operational site access.

If you need to replace a lost or damaged SHEA Power Card, you can do this via the EUSR website. You’ll just need to provide your unique EUSR ID and pay a replacement fee to cover the cost.

As long as you have access to Microsoft Teams via a laptop, desktop computer or tablet, you’ll be able to complete the EUSR SHEA Power Course online.
